Review: Say You’ll Stay by Corinne Michaels

One word.
Stay.

It was all he had to do. Instead, he got on that bus and took my heart with him.

That was seventeen years ago.

I moved on. Marriage. Kids. White picket fence. Everything I ever wanted, but my husband betrayed me and I was left once again.

Alone, penniless, and with two boys, I had no choice but to return to Tennessee. He wasn’t supposed to be there. I should’ve been safe. However, fate has a way of stepping in.

This time around, the tables are turned. It’s my decision. Second chances do exist, but I don’t know if we can repair what’s already been broken…

Holy freaking cow this book is just so cute. It’s very… “country cliché” if that makes any sense. Zach is the perfect country gentleman, he stole my heart and I fell in head over heels in love. Say You’ll Stay is a definite must read for any hopeless romantic.

Say You’ll Stay is the second chance love story of Zachary and Presley. They were young and so in love until Zachary left to pursue his dream. Presley, as heartbroken as she was, moved on with time, got married and became the mother of two kids. Until an unfortunate series of events gets her back to Bell Buckle, Tennessee… where she finds Zach again and it’s now her decision to leave and keep things as they were or to stay and give everything a second chance.

This book completely stole my hear. Thank you Corinne for writing this amazing book. As some of you might know, I’m a hopeless romantic. There’s nothing I love more than a good “cliché” story and Say You’ll Stay completely fulfilled all of my heart’s needs. Zach’s and Presley’s feelings for each other are truly undeniable, sometimes I hated Presley for not running into Zachary’s arms but maybe she was right, sometimes just love isn’t enough, her life just changed and she has two little heartbroken boys trying to get through it, maybe adding a love interest into the mix isn’t the best idea, but oh lord is Zach perfect.

If you hadn’t noticed by now, Zachary is by far my favorite character and I just loved him so much I wanted to cry. He’s incredibly sweet and nice and hot and just the perfect country boy, I don’t know how Presley was able to keep her cool for so long (probably because she got her heart broken, but ignoring that). The way he treats Presley and her kids is insanely heartwarming, he loves them as if they’re his own and he’s just such an loving person.

To wrap it all up, I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes “cliché” love stories, if you don’t really like predicting the whole story, you might not love this book as much as I did, but Corinne Michaels did an amazing job, the story is well written and the characters are so cute, maybe not relatable because of how romantic and cheesy it is, but it doesn’t make it any less good. It pulled on my heartstrings with Zachary and Presley’s love.

  1. Great review, Claudia!
I remember reading this a while ago but thought that their back and forth was too childish if that does make any sense. And also the reasons they separated all those years ago was stupid in my opinion. -.-
I’m sorry, I don’t wanna talk the book or your review down. Your review is great and the book is not bad, it’s just OK.
This is also why I have been reluctant to pick up the other books in this series too. Maybe sometime next year. 😀

    1. Hi Sabrina! Thank you so much 💓 honestly, I did think it was childish from time to time as well and Presley’s attitude and actions annoyed me sometimes. But I still liked it 🤗 -Claudia
