Maverick, an all-new contemporary STANDALONE by New York Times Bestselling author Karina Halle is LIVE!!!

Maverick is a complete standalone novel and the second book about the rough and rugged Nelson brothers. Get ready for one wild alpha mountain man – Canada’s never felt so hot!

Forget playing it safe.

John “Maverick” Nelson likes to live his life on the edge – literally. A crucial member of the search and rescue team in the mountainous British Columbian town of North Ridge, Maverick’s brash and bold attitude means he’s the first one to ascend into danger, no matter the risk.

When it comes to women, though, Maverick errs on the side of caution. For all his cocky charm, rugged good looks and sexual swagger, he remains as unreachable as the surrounding peaks. Hot, wild sex? He’ll tell you there’s no better way to spend a cold, wintry night. Relationships? He’d rather freeze.

That is until he lays his eyes on American Riley Clarke. Trading in the crippling expenses of Aspen for BC, Riley is North Ridge’s newest member of their search and rescue team and the only woman on the job, which means spending a lot of time with Mav in adrenaline-pumping situations.

With the chemistry between them hot enough to melt snow, keeping their hands off each other is detriment to the success of their team. Besides, Maverick’s her boss and she didn’t work her ass off in Colorado just to throw it all away for some mind-blowing sex.

But when the worst winter in years sweeps in, Riley and Maverick will have to battle the elements along with their attraction for each other. And if either of them slip up, both of them will be in for a deep freeze.

PSA: Maverick is book two in the North Ridge trilogy. It can be read as a stand-alone but I recommend reading book 1, Wild Card, because it is amazing too. You can read my review of book 1 HERE.

OH MY GAWD, Y’ALL. I stayed up until three-four in the morning yesterday because Maverick is SO DARN AMAZING that it is impossible to put down. I swear I started it and couldn’t stop reading until I finished it. I didn’t even stop to eat a snack and I love me some snacks while reading.
Now I have one of the biggest book hangovers of the year and my brain refuses to work properly. So pardon me if this review is all over the place (when are my reviews not all over the place thought?!).

Riley Clarke had a very crappy day two years ago. We’re talking near-death-experience kind of crappy day. Now she’s moving to North Ridge in hopes she can leave that day behind and finally move on with her life. What she did not expect was to find a hotter than hell member in her research and rescue team. And he’s not only a member; he’s her boss, mind you. And the whole world knows the rules, no fraternization. But no matter how many times they try to keep things platonic between them, their connection is impossible to resist.

Maverick is an alpha male. If you’ve been around for a while then you know I love them but they have to be near freaking perfection (my definition of perfection anyway) for me to fall in love with them. And man, did I fall in love with Maverick. He’s hunkalicious (it’s a thing, google it). He’s intelligent, flirty, dirty, charming, mature and so very sexy. Reading the chapters written from his point of view had me blushing from the top of my head to the tips of my toes. Just that alone makes this book freaking amazing already. Karina Halle always writes the best book boyfriends and she kicked it out of the park with Mav. I can’t wait for everyone to meet him.

Riley is one of my favorite female characters ever. She’s not like any other character I’ve ever read. She’s flirty, intelligent, fierce, strong, beautiful and confident. She’s not one of those characters that make you roll your eyes a million and one times because they follow every rule and refuse to let love in and do everything in their power to resist their connection with someone. She flirts with Mav every second of every day. Riley knows Mav wants her as much as she wants him and while she’s trying to follow the “no fraternization” rule, she also knows she’ll break the rule sooner or later.

Sigh. Karina Halle writes the most original and well thought out stories. Maverick is not an exception. It is hot and emotional and thrilling and heartbreaking.
And since Karina is also the queen of sexual tension Maverick the perfect read for this autumn/winter season. It’s the perfect book to read on a cold night; it’ll keep you oh so warm and cozy.
I can’t wait for you all to meet Riley and Mav. Pick it up as soon as you can!
